Position Overview
The Estate Planning Attorney is a key member of the Frame & Frame team, responsible for providing comprehensive estate planning, probate, and elder law services to clients. This role focuses on helping individuals and families secure their legacies through thoughtful legal planning at one of Frame & Frame's offices in Annapolis, Kent Island, or Pasadena. The attorney will work directly with clients to develop customized plans that protect assets and prepare for the future. This position reports to senior leadership and follows a hybrid schedule with 3 days in-office and 1 day remote, rotating between office locations.
Primary Responsibilities
The Estate Planning Attorney will be responsible for the following key areas:
Estate Planning
- Draft and prepare comprehensive estate planning documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives
- Counsel clients on estate planning strategies, asset protection, and wealth transfer options
- Review existing estate plans and recommend updates based on changes in law or client circumstances
- Conduct client meetings to gather information and explain complex legal concepts in accessible terms
- Stay current on relevant laws and regulations affecting estate planning and elder law
Probate and Elder Law
- Assist clients with probate administration and estate settlement processes
- Guide families through guardianship proceedings when necessary
- Provide counsel on Medicaid planning and long-term care considerations
- Support clients with special needs planning and related legal matters
- Maintain accurate and complete client files and documentation
Professional Development
- Participate in continuing legal education to maintain licensure and expertise
- Contribute to firm marketing efforts including educational seminars and content creation
- Build and maintain professional relationships with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals
- Support the firm's community engagement initiatives
- Mentor junior staff as appropriate
Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree (Juris Doctor/JD) from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in Maryland (or ability to obtain licensure)
- 1-10 years of experience in estate planning, probate, and estate administration
- Strong drafting and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to build client relationships based on trust and empathy
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of estate planning, probate, and elder law principles
- Familiarity with Maryland state laws regarding estates and trusts
- Knowledge of tax implications related to estate planning and wealth transfer
- Understanding of Medicaid eligibility and planning strategies
- Proficiency with legal practice management software and Microsoft Office suite

- Ability to explain complex legal concepts in a client-friendly manner
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
- Compassionate, client-centered approach with outstanding interpersonal skills

Work Location
Hybrid remote position working 3 days in-office and 1 day remote. Frame & Frame has office locations in Annapolis, Kent Island, and Pasadena, MD.
